your settings — the era you've picked, your chosen 8-ball skin, and how many rare fortunes you've found — are saved only on your device using standard ios storage. this information is never transmitted to us or anyone else.

motion

the app reads your device's motion sensors to know when you flip or shake your phone. this is processed live on your device to trigger the animation and is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.

network use

from time to time the app downloads updated fortune text from our server (weirdlittleideas.com) so the answers can stay fresh. this is a one-way download of content — no personal information is sent with the request. the app makes no other network connections and includes no third-party sdks or trackers.

children

magic eight is suitable for a general audience and collects no data from anyone, including children.
